BIG IDEA: Faith is far more than a ticket to heaven.
Faith isn’t merely about trusting that God’s got you, it’s about “becoming fully convinced that God IS able to do what he promised Abraham.” If you’re not becoming God’s empowered partner now, you should take a hard look at the fine print on that ticket to heaven you’re clutching so tightly. Jesus came to bring joy and life, here and now, not just then and there. I wonder, “What would it look like for us to strive for that together?”
Now, having discovered that John was more than a baptizer and that faith is more than a ticket to heaven, next week we’ll wade into the murky waters of his strange baptism to learn why sinless Jesus participated in it.
